Penguin Island, Rockingham
Penguin Island as the name suggest is a santuary for wild penguins. Its located in Rockingham about 45 mins drive from Perth.
Recommend to spend up to 3 hours on Penguin Island to be planned around the penguin feeding time.
It is open from mid sep to early jun (closed during winter).
You can take a 5 minute ferry ride from the jetty at Shoalwater. It leaves for Penguin Island every hour from 9 am. Ferries returning to the mainland depart at ten minutes past the hour, so arrive a few minutes early to board
Better still, take the boat cruise where you can possibly sight wild dolphins, sea lions (on beach) and other local wildlife.
Key highlight is to see the penguin feeding at Penguin Discovery Centre.
Other things to do :
• Swimming and snorkeling at Shoalwater Bay
• Exploring the nature trails & boardwalks
• Having a picnic under the trees overlooking a safe swimming beach ideal for young children
• Seeing nesting pelicans & other sea birds up close especially September & October when the chicks are hatching
• spot dolphins & whales at lookouts (Sep to Dec)

For dolphin sighting, you don't have to opt for the more costly dolphin tour as the Sealion / Wildlife tour will search for dolphin enroute to Penguin Island.
On the island, wear a hat, sun screen dan sunglasses especially for wild penguin sighting.

Plan to arrive in time for Penguin feeding (10.30am, 12.30pm & 2.30pm) at the Penguin Discovery Centre (buy and keep ticket).
Bring your own food / drinks as there is no food / drink sold on the island.
No garbage bin on the island. Need to bring your rubbish back with you.
Rockingham
Recommend to reach Rockingham early morning and drop by at Point Peron for scenery / photo.
Option to stop at the Rockingham Espalanade on your return to Perth.
Pray at Ar Rukun Mosque Mosque @ 4 Attwood Way, Rockingham
Mandurah
Option to continue trip to Mandurah (see separate post) - 20 mins from Rockingham.
