PLAN for GST REFUND CLAIM
Conditions:
1. The goods have to be over $300 in value. This can be one item costing over $300, or several products totalling over $300 that is purchased from the same retailer (with the same Australian Business Number).
2. Items are bought within 60 days of buyer's departure. This mainly applies to locals. Items cannot be brought back into Australia.
3. Items to be produced at TRS Counter and carried as carry-on baggage.
4. If item exceed $1000 obtain a Tax Invoice from the retailer and must include the tourist address.
5. Make payment by credit card or debit card so that your claim can be immediately processed.
6. TRS app
To speed up the claiming process, you can download the TRS mobile app and enter all the details (payment method, details of the goods and your travel information) before you go to the airport. The information will be stored as a QR code. At the TRS office, you just need to show them your QR code, your purchased items, and original tax invoice.

You cannot claim a refund on these goods:
– Cigarettes
– Alcohol
– Medicine
– Services (Hotel rooms, car rentals, tours, etc)
– Product already used as perfume, however you can claim GST on devices such as a computer, camera, Iphone, used during your sta
The refund is made at the airport, after the customs. Look for signs indicating Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS). There will be at least an half an hour wait, anticipate and arrive in advance to make sure you don’t miss out.
For items to be checked in, go to the office next to the Europcar / car rental counters for the items to be validated.
You may fill up a form and submit your claim if the TRS counter is closed. Take photo of the receipts as originals are required to be submitted.
